Knitting a Rug for the Home – Easy as 1-2-3!

I found this pattern on the Internet and immediately wanted to do this knitting project!  I just had to try it…
A nice rug! In cotton! To your needles!!
This project is so easy to do and fast. Using two 9-mm needles, the rug is knitted with four cotton strands at the same time. It is mostly knitted in seed stitch (purl 1, knit 1). To finish off the work, a narrow edge in stocking stitch (knit on RS and purl on WS) is added on each end of the rug.
The project cost me about thirty dollars overall. It is not too costly for hours of fun and the satisfaction of having made a rug with my own two hands! I now have a very soft rug on the floor of my bathroom.
Here are the web links you will need to do this rug yourself: This project is a Bernat pattern and you can download it by clicking HERE. Simply register online and you will have access to a wide selection of free patterns. You can also choose from three languages on the website: English, French or Spanish.
I purchased cotton for my project on the Canadian website of Mary Maxim. I love buying wool online; lots of choice and no need to run all over the place to find what you need…. In a nutshell… The Lily Sugar’n cotton is available HERE. I chose the Denim Twist colour from Bernat Handicrafter for my project (no more available.. you can find some on ebay).
You can also ask for the Mary Maxim catalogue HERE and have it home delivered to order by mail if you prefer.
Enjoy your knitting project!
