So, cast on a multiple of 4 stitches. Then, knit as follows:
Row 1 (Right Side): * K2, P2; rep from * to end.Row 2 (Wrong Side): * P2, K2; rep from * to end.
Row 3: * P2, K2; rep from * to end.
Row 4: * K2, P2; rep from * to end.

Note that my sample was knitted with a thick but light woolen thread, on 4.5mm needles, with 48 stitches. The result can be different (and this is the interesting thing) if you do it with a different kind of wool and needle size.
